No matter what email marketing system you are using, it is essential that you provide those on your list with an option to opt out of your emails. Unlike email services like 1ShoppingCart.com, Constant Contact and aWeber that automatically insert predefined opt-out links at the bottom of your email, Infusionsoft gives you the flexibility of customization. If you’re doing your e-mail marketing through Infusionsoft, and you have not customized your opt-out link, you could be losing subscribers unnecessarily. There are two very important reasons to create your own opt-out link. The first one is because someone may simply want to want to update their e-mail address or contact information, but remain on your list. The second is that someone may want to opt-out of your weekly promotion e-mail, but continue to receive your monthly newsletter or other email offerings. Infusionsoft’s default opt-out link allows for one thing: unsubscribe from all e-mail marketing! Ouch!
However, with Infusionsoft’s ability to customize opt-out links, you can give your readers the option to update their information, unsubscribe from specific emails while staying subscribed to others, or unsubscribe from your list completely. You can also create actions associated with individual opt-outs. For instance, you can change a tag or send them an e-mail that says, “We’re sorry to see you leave the weekly promotions e-mail. If you’re interested in our monthly specials, click here.” Or something else along those lines.
The important thing is that by customizing your opt-out links, you won’t be losing people unnecessarily. For more detailed information on how to customize your opt-out links in Infusionsoft, click here.
