If you’ve never heard of IFTTT (If This Then That), then you’re missing out on a great business and personal app that will automate simple things you never knew possible, by integrating and connecting your favorite applications. It will help boost your productivity, it’s fun, and it’s free!
IFTTT uses recipes to integrate apps and systems. Some of my favorites are the recipe that automatically sends a copy of my newest blog post to Evernote as soon as it posts, the one that sends a copy of every Facebook post I make to a note in Evernote, and the one that will send my receipts to a spreadsheet in Google Docs whenever I get one via email. There are a gazillion other recipes that will integrate so many of your beloved applications.
And, I evidently love this app so much that I wrote another post about all of it’s wonders toward the end of last year. You can check it out here!
The recipes that caught my eye this time and prompted this particular post are some of the mobile apps by IFTTT – available on both Android and iOS. Specifically the Do Button, Do Camera and Do Note apps. They are both fun and handy to have.
The Do Button allows me to quickly append a to-do note to Evernote, text myself my location or get an email with my current location (so I can send it to friends or figure out where I am), and for fun … an option to push a button that makes my phone call me so I can pretend I have to leave and get myself out of an awkward situation. Fun, huh 😉

Do Camera lets me take a quick photo and email it to myself with the push of a button. I can put together a visual shopping list by snapping photos of the things I need to grab at the store, take a photo of a receipt and send it to Evernote, and send a photo to Evernote. And … while I was sitting here putting this post together, I added another recipe that lets me take photos of things while I’m out and about and have them sent directly to a specified album in Facebook.
And then there is Do Note. It allows me to quickly create events in Google Calendar, and save notes on the Fly – to Evernote of course. I’m sure there are a lot of other things it will do, but I just added it yesterday and am still checking it out.
So as you can see, there are lots of things IFTTT can do. These are just the easy ones. I’m not even scratching the surface of possibilities to integrate apps AND appliances! Check it out for yourself and tell me about your favorite recipes and Do apps!
